Job Description
Senior Consultant, Applications Practice
Support the discovery, architecture, design, and onboarding of applications using modern application migration, modernization, and development practices with emerging open source technologies
Help us cover domains including microservices, API management, and web-scale architectures, DevOps engineering and application delivery, and container-based continuous delivery (CD), i.e., using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, cloud automation, and Everything as Code
Serve as a trusted partner to our customers and use your critical thinking skills to solve tough problems in an innovative way
Present vision, strategy, technology, and roadmaps to executives, technical management, engineers, and operators
Actively code on customer projects through various Red Hat s program offerings like labs and journeys
Support presales and delivery field teams during workshops, proofs of concepts, pilots, and production deployments
Actively contribute to and guide creation of reference architectures, design considerations, knowledge bases, and the Open Practice Library (OPL)
Contribute to the Red Hat Consulting team by participating in internal initiatives, creating consulting whitepapers, presenting at events (online and in person), and updating the knowledge base
Assist in the development of standard reusable consulting practice delivery guides and service offerings, including definition of tasks, deliverables, and standard estimates
Learn new technologies quickly, including topics like container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, and microservices on container platforms
Travel in the future to work alongside leading financial services, retail, telecommunication, and institutional customers, in line with Red Hat’s COVID-19 guidelines
Required skills
4+ years of experience working as a lead software engineer or consultant, or in similar roles
Proven experience designing and developing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain
Experience facilitating software design, architecture, and ideation sessions
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift, or other container tools
Ability to uncover business challenges and develop custom solutions to solve these challenges
Working knowledge of object-oriented design, API design, and design patterns applicable to modern software development
Applied knowledge of working with agile, scrum, and DevOps teams
Proven experience with software development, including languages, systems, and frameworks like Java, Spring, Quarkus, Python, JMS, Kafka, SQL, NoSQL, and Redis or Infinispan
Working knowledge of database design
Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation
Applied knowledge of modern software delivery methods and tools like test-driven development (TDD), behavior-driven development (BDD), continuous integration (CI) and CD, and Jenkins or Tekton
Working knowledge of automation tools like Red Hat Ansible Automation, Puppet, or Chef
Working knowledge of application and infrastructure monitoring
Ability to study on your own, learn quickly, and put new knowledge into practice
Adaptability to and understanding of industry trends and how technology, people, and practices are applied in different settings
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or equivalent credentials in a related technical discipline
