Himachal Sees Cloudburst

This morning, numerous people were missing in Himachal Pradesh due to a cloudburst and flash floods, while a woman died in a landslide near Shimla. Since previous night, there has been constant rain in the state.
Due to a cloudburst, Malana and Manikaran in the Kullu district are cut off from the rest of the state, and rescue operations are in progress. According to officials, six persons are missing in the district.

The state is expected to experience severe to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and isolated lightning strikes over its plains and low and mid-hills, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Over the state’s high hills, thunderstorms and lightning are expected.

A woman was killed and two people, including a man and a woman, were injured in the landslide that was reported near the Dhalli tunnel in Shimla. According to accounts, the victims—who were reportedly migrant workers—were asleep in a roadside tent when the tragedy took place. The Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital has received the injured patient for medical attention. The debris also struck a few vehicles.

Meanwhile, the districts of Kinnaur and Kullu have experienced flash floods.

In the Kullu village of Chojh, five livestock and at least four more people have been lost in the flood. Due to landslides, the rescue crews are stranded in the middle.

Approximately 25 to 30 Malana 2 power project workers who were stranded in a structure damaged by a flash flood have been evacuated.

Meanwhile, all water sources in Manikaran valley are witnessing very high water discharge.
